FAQs

Q: What is hypnosis?

A: Hypnosis is a natural and normal state of the mind whereby the body experiences a state of deep physical relaxation. The conscious mind rests, whilst the subconscious mind remains clear alert and focused. We enter this hypnotic state daily…. maybe you can remember daydreaming? That is hypnosis in its simplist form and is a naturally occuring state.

Q: What is hypnotherapy?

A: Hypnotherapy is the guided use of hypnosis whereby the therapist can access your subconscious mind to bring about positive change and help you reach your personal goals.

Q: Will you be able to control me like I see on the TV?

A: No!!! Stage hypnotists create the impression that they have control of the volunteers. All of the volunteers are following suggestions and not commands. They carry out those suggestions because they CHOOSE to and not because they HAVE to. Many of these volunteers are extroverts and would behave in a similar fashion having had a couple of drinks anyway. They could choose to walk off stage at any given moment and sit back down in their chair. You will not lose self control or disclose any information that you would not ordinarily disclose. You will only accept any suggestions that are of benefit to you. Your unconscious mind will reject any undesired suggestions automatically.

Q: Can anyone be hypnotised?

A: Yes!!! Any person with the ability to focus and at least average intelligence can go into hypnosis. The more intelligent and focused the person is, the the easier it will be for them to go into the hypnotic  state. However, you must be willing as no one can hypnotise you if you do not wish to be hypnotised, as the natural defences in your mind will prevent this from happening.

Q: What if I don’t wake up from hypnosis?

A: It is not possible to get stuck in hypnosis. You can no more get stuck in hypnosis than you could get stuck in a daydream.

Q: Will I be unconscious during my treatment?

A: No!!! You will feel very comfortable and deeply relaxed. You will be fully alert and wide awake during treatment and at any given time you could choose to get up and walk away.

Q: Is it possible to hypnotise somebody against their will?

A: No! It is not possible to hypnotise a person against their will and if they were hypnotised they can reject any suggestion that is not beneficial to them.

Q: Can I drive home after my hypnotherapy session.

A: Yes!!! You will come out of your session feeling refreshed, relaxed and alert.
